Bob!!!
Happy Birthday to one of my favorite guys in the world! From the moment we met,I knew you were someone very special. Always kind, considerate, helpful and ALL IN! It’s been a special friendship for 34 years! Can you believe it? We were youngins when we first met (me younger than you just to be clear :-) From the South Bay Youth Project, where we forged our friendship, to The Lincoln Club, I’ve always respected and admired you. I feel blessed to have you in my life. Happy Birthday Sunshine!!

Happy 80th Birthday, Bob Holmes
Today we raise a joyful cheer,
To celebrate a friend so dear.
For eighty years you've lit the way,
With wisdom bright in every day.
A heart so warm, a hand so kind,
A sharper wit you'll rarely find.
Forever giving, first to care,
A life of service, rich and rare.
You've helped our town through calm and storm,
With steady grace and endless warmth.
Your legacy is plain to see,
In every part of our community.
If Mount Rushmore had room to spare,
For hometown heroes, strong and fair,
Your face would proudly stand in place,
A symbol of goodwill and grace.
So here's to laughter, health, and cheer,
For many more remarkable years.
Happy 80th Birthday, Bob, we say—
You make Manhattan Beach a better place every day.
Love,
Michael Levine

Happy birthday Bob! I think we first met in 2009 or 2010, so it is closing in on 20 years. You were the catalyst who helped get me engaged in South Bay politics. In 2012 you recruited me to run for the 66th AD central committee, which led to my chairmanship, which led to the South Bay 100, which led to my Assembly run. And in August 2013 I remember getting a sunburn while sitting with you on your front porch as we discussed my possible run for the Assembly. Finally, I am grateful for all your help for Suzanne in her MB political chapter. And of course, thank you for your service! We’ve had a few lunches and seen a few fireworks from your place along the way! With friendship and gratitude,
David Hadley

Dear Bob,
It's hard to believe it's been so many years since we worked together, but I'm grateful that our professional relationship grew into a lasting friendship. I still laugh when I think about the day you told me to stop working and go outside to watch the sunset from your front porch. I can honestly say I've never had another boss who encouraged me to do that!
Thank you for your guidance, encouragement, and the countless lessons you shared over the years. You've had a positive impact on so many people, including me, and I hope you know just how much you're appreciated. Kevin and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Molly's interview with you for the Vietnam Veterans of America scholarship program. We're grateful that you took the time to share your experiences and, in doing so, gave her a history lesson she'll carry with her for the rest of her life.
The birthday and anniversary cards you've faithfully sent me over the decades are treasures. Every year I look forward to seeing what cheeky, sarcastic message you've chosen. They never fail to make me smile and are such a reflection of your thoughtfulness and wonderfully wicked sense of humor.
I wish you a very happy 80th birthday. You've always been curious, open-minded, and proactive when it comes to your health and nutrition, and I've been honored to play a small role in that journey over the years.
From one July birthday pal to another, here's wishing you a wonderful celebration and a year ahead filled with good health, happiness, laughter, and many more memories with the people who love you. Happy milestone birthday, my friend. You wear it well!
With love and respect,
Jeanette (Skaff) Fisher

Bob, you have been in my life for over 34 years when Kyle was born at Computerland Infosystems which later became En Pointe Technologies. That was long ago which followed by Kyle playing under your ship deck coffee table playing hot wheels. We shared many an egg and cheese sandwich with paradise ice tea. Thanks for being my client, mentor, Uncle, friend and confidant. You leave an awesome legacy and thanks for always always honoring my dad Al and my family!
You will always be Bob at the Beach and Terror of Two Oceans! Now even older than dirt!
Love you Bob,
Angela and Koa

Happy Birthday Bob! When I was living in Tucson I responded to a blind ad in the Wall Street Journal in early 1980 about a job opening in employee benefits administration. A few weeks later I received a call from you about the job which, much to my surprise, was at Twentieth Century Fox in LA. We got along pretty well and chatted for almost an hour. You later called me and asked me to fly over for an interview, which subsequently resulted in a great job offer. That initial phone call from you was the most important call of my life, as it led to a wonderful career in employee benefits management over the next 30 years. I’ve seen you a few times over the years since we both moved on, but I always remember, and cherish, that phone call. Cheers, and long may you run!

Bob: In my 45 years of legal practice, I come across so many memorable people, you rank as one of my most memorable, always a pleasure talking to you on the phone and a 5 minute conversation stretches into an hour long discourse on life in general . You have lived a full and varied life and I’ll always remember the stories of your Baja camping trips and the dog that listened to Taiwanese commands. Thanks for you generosity in sharing your HR knowledge with me. Happy 80th.

Dear Bob,
Congratulations on your 80th! Bob, you are one of the best people I know! Thank you for being an amazing advocate for others and enjoy your special day! Lisa & Paul Cummings
Happy Birthday Bob. We have known each other for 50+ years I will never forget the time when I was a motorcycle cop for MBPD and my partner Eric Milse and I were cruising the Strand and saw you with a bunch of your friends sitting in the sand and we called you over and then proceeded to handcuff you to a sign and we drove off. Eventually, we came back and released you. I wish we had cell phones back then because I would have taken a picture of that incident and included it. You have been a great friend and I think it is so cool that you send me a birthday card every year. I turn 79 this January so I am not far behind you.

Bob has been not only a dear friend but he is also a trusted advisor and mentor all these years. He was the best career advisor I have ever had and helped me long some nasty patches in my 40 year career in high tech in Silicon Valley. What I learned from him I continuously used for my own benefit and also taught it to my own employees. Even though retired – I still have his advice in my ear and use it to this day in all areas of life.
So, I am excited to congratulate Bob on his special birthday! Love you Bob!!

Bob:
Wow, how the time has passed!
I'm certainly hoping you have a very nice 80th Birthday. In honor of your milestone, I'd like to recount how I believe God brought us together. As you'll recall it was in fact decades ago when you were at Metro Bank. I can't recall the name of the CEO or CFO or whatever Metro Bank executive was the "friend" of my partner at the time, Rick Bryson, but I do recall how much the two of us enjoyed our many visits as we worked on the employee benefits for the bank's employees.
It's actually funny how God has worked in my business. After more than 20 years of working with Bryson, it was clear to me that He wanted me in another place. So, I left that partnership and went solo. But, you remained as a loyal friend and client.
From our very first meeting, I knew you were special. Our chemistry seemed to click. And, YOU always caused me to feel somewhat guilty for NOT remembering your birthday....because without fail, Every Darn Year, you were like clockwork with your birthday greeting on My Birthday! I'm honestly wondering how many of your friends experienced that same kind of "guilt" each year. Here I am, an Insurance Broker, whose job it is to remember names & birthdays, and I have a client & friend who does a better job of that than I.
If God hadn't blessed you with BJ as well as Kirby, your friend and insurance broker would still be in the dark!
Happy Birthday, my "old" friend! You've truly blessed me for many years.

Hey Bob, sadly I don’t have any locatable photos that include the two of us or, for that matter, any photos of you that don’t include me. Nevertheless, have a great birthday. You’ve made it this far, so you may as well hang around for another 20 years - I need someone to communicate with when I’m lonely or confused. I can give you much-needed advice about the pluses and minuses of the aging process, especially with regards to the utilization of the massive amount of wisdom you’ve undoubtably acquired over the years. Stay healthy, and best wishes to you and to BJ!
