Notes from People Who Love You
Many Happy Returns Bob! You are a great Patriot and Veteran Brother. You are an “Old Reliable” even though we were not in the same Division in ‘Nam. Thanks for always showing up to assist with cleaning the Hermosa Beach Veterans Memorial.

Some of my best memories of my youth were with you, Captain Holmes. You are the only Republican I’ve ever been close friends with, so you were and are special!! A very happy birthday.

Happy Birthday from the 407th, my friend. It has been a real pleasure getting to know you these last few years. Just wish we had met back in Quang Tri, so that we could have had many more years of get togethers. Take care, and hope to see you soon.

You have attained an age that most of us could not truly even contemplate fifty plus years ago when we sometimes wondered if we would live through our late teens or early 20s. Since I always seem to be 6,000 miles away, I will have to raise a glass in your honor from here. While doing so, I will replay all of my memories of you as a friend, a mentor and a trusted advisor.
The thought of addressing you as an Old Goat came to mind when I started writing to you for your 80th. I, respectfully, restrained myself. But, giving additional thought to that subject has caused me to conclude that, to me, you are indeed a G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) in each of the categories I listed.
I send you all of my best wishes and I look forward to when we can next raise a glass together.
Your friend and Brother,
Ray Frew

Hi Bob,
Congratulations on your milestone birthday. So many veterans thank you for carrying the torch of remembrance and recognition.
Your outreach is extraordinary and the love you express for your brothers is a gift most gracious.
Keep leaning forward - except when on a boogie board.

Bob is a great guy and I enjoyed our trip to Vietnam in 2000 to visit the bases where we served during the war. Happy birthday Bob and you are still a kid at heart.
Very truly yours,
