Notes from People Who Love You
Bob, Let’s argue. Then go to Shellback.
You’re a reminder of all that was good in politics. You left a lasting example for Manhattan Beach councilmembers who followed.

Happy 80th birthday Bob! I am congratulating you on behalf of both Steve and I for reaching this milestone. Both of you being Vietnam veterans and in the political arena, had much in common. You and BJ were a wonderful support to me after Steve passed 5 and ½ years ago and I thank you greatly for that. It’s been an honor knowing you. Wishing you many more happy years.

Charles Robert Holmes ,
You have been a near member of our Lesser family since you first entered the political world here in MB. But so much more as our travel buddy and party celebrator. Amazing that you never missed my birthday or our anniversaries. So we are happy to celebrate your 80th! Love U,
Charlotte Lesser

Bob,
I had the honor of interviewing you for a story about the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial. You taught me so much about the Vietnam War and the sacrifices our soldiers made, those who came back and those who did not.
Since then, I look forward to seeing you Saturday mornings at the Hermosa Beach Veterans Memorial, where we literally get in the weeds to clean the grounds.Your smiling face and shovel ready, can-do spirit lifts us all.
Thank you for your service to our country and the city of Manhattan Beach.
I hope you have a wonderful 80th birthday and may you have 80 more.

Dear Bob, happy birthday to my favorite Vietnam Vet. You are a legend within Manhattan Beach.
Thank you for keeping the flame burning in the South Bay for conservative and sane politics, including your help to my hubs for the California State Assembly.
Most of the MB fireworks we’ve watched are due to the generosity of you and Bj. Thank you!
David and I are grateful for the Army advice you’ve bestowed on our son Jack.
For years to come, I hope to read more of your letters to the editor, enjoy more engaging speakers you booked for Lincoln Club, and continue to salute the flag in your honor on Veterans Day.
May God bless you on your 80th birthday. I’m glad you were born!
Warmly,
Suzanne Hadley

For approximately 4 decades, I have watched from afar (Hermosa Beach) , Bob’s dedication, commitment and service to Manhattan Beach.
He is noted for his diplomatic approach to issues while staying the course.
I wish him a Happy Birthday with many more to come.
